To whom it may Concern: Each year the Crow River Cutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation provides Thanksgiving Day turkeys to needy families in our three county area through the NWTF’s Hunters Who Care program. This year we are providing a total of 75 turkeys. They are being distributed through Social Services in McLeod, Meeker and Renville Counties on Monday, November 25. We conduct several fund raisers throughout the year in order to finance this endeavor. The NWTF’s new national initiative, “Save the Habitat, Save the Hunt” is aimed at restoring and preserving over 4 million acres of critical upland habitat, open access to an additional 500,000 acres for hunting and to put 1.5 million new hunters in the field. Toward this end, we help sponsor local high school trap shooting teams. We also have a very successful mobile BB gun shooting range that we take to youth events all over the state, as well as mentoring youth hunts.
Please use the above information and the picture. I have attached a photo of turkeys being delivered. Pictured is Jan Schlack of Meeker County Social Services along with Crow River Cutters members Len Lasley (middle) and Lowell Himle.
